In line with UTHM Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025 which outline Talent Management as one of the main agendas, as well as University's desire to achieve the Global Technopreneur University status by 2030 (GTU2030), The University Board of Directors No. 5/2021, in their meeting held on November 7, 2021, has approved the establishment of the Center of Leadership and Competency as a center of responsibility under the Registrar.

This center is the combination of two units from Registrar’s Office and one unit from the Academic Development and Training Center namely:

• Talent and Leadership Development Unit (Human Resources Division, Registrar’s Office)
• Human Capital Development Unit (Human Resources Division, Registrar’s Office)
• Department of Academic Training Management (Centre of Academic Development and Training)
  The establishment of the Center of Leadership and Competency was effective from January 1 2022, and operate at Level 1 of the UTHM Registrar's Office Building.
